Nest Rest

The female was in the big nest yesterday, just the top of her head showing then she stood up, "Oh, you again!" I think she was just having a little rest, perhaps early for eggs, but who knows with these two.

Rockin Rudy's CARDS!

Our absolute favorite business in Missoula is Rockin Rudy's and here is our favorite model Erin displaying our notecards today, a bunch of new ones. All proceeds to benefit the education program, and I buy all my jazz CD's from Luke and Jesse. Thanks owner Bruce for helping us out all these years, and surprise- a Falcons book signing soon in the park across the street! WOW!

Hawks

Same birds and tree, same time of day, different outcome as instead of mating this time she flew off, perhaps startled. To be honest, scared the heck out of me as I saw a dot coming from the sky in a stoop and there he was one second later, "Honey, I'm home." You know how it is.

Omnipresent Hawks

These two are just downstream at our friend Dan's property, their third year and a big ole nest. After mating, he perched on her back for about a minute, watching other hawks high above. AND the Bald Eagles are on eggs, nest at the river, whew! Projects galore. I'm sure my Mom will ask if I "have enough film."

Nesting.

Red-tails have been nesting for a few years at our pal Dan's property just downstream a bit. Of course the male (smaller size on the left) showed up after I headed home, a quick backtrack and they both flew. PLENTY of time for this project!

Nesting?

I am starting to think the eagles are just teasing me again this year, a photo from the edge of the yard yesterday afternoon. The nest is just above my signature, larger female eagle perched on the left. In 2016 she began incubating on March 12th, the next year March 5th! Nothing yet.

Sonora on the Sculpture

My metal Raven sculpture has been a favorite perch for Sonora the Aplomado Falcon lately during her morning trip indoors. (Yes, a sheet of newspaper is underneath each of these perches. I knew you would ask.)

Nice Grass!

Last Day

Sibley the Peregrine's last day of flying for the season with all of the newly-territorial hawks and eagles in the air. She caught a trophy ball of grass on her last pass, headed for the car.

Bald Eagle News

The eagles by our house last evening at the nest tree. They began in 2011 and for 7 straight years fledged young, three years with three! However, Canada Geese have been in the in the nest the last few springs. This looks hopeful for 2021, fingers crossed.

Play Day for our best pals and our best dogs at the river this morning.  Mike Deneve, Cassie the Awesome, Ellen Condon talking to Nico, and to her new puppy Stuart. Ellen is teaching them to count, starting with 1, then new languages and algebra. They are so smart!
